Welcome

Welcome to The Cigar Selections — the official lifestyle blog of Grammy-nominated musician, cigar aficionado, and fine-spirits connoisseur Julyo.

This is where refined taste meets real-world experience. I travel, I perform, I explore — and along the way, I dive deep into the world’s best cigars, exceptional spirits, standout dishes, cutting-edge cafés, unforgettable restaurants, and travel destinations worth your time.

For me, a cigar isn’t just something you smoke — it’s a ritual. A sensory journey. A moment where aroma, craft, culture, and conversation meet. The same goes for a well-aged whiskey, a thoughtfully designed tasting menu, or a hidden local gem far from the tourist paths.

Here, you’ll find honest reviews, curated recommendations, and weekly selections shaped by years on the road and a genuine passion for craftsmanship in all its forms.

Explore, enjoy, and light up. The journey starts here.

Music, travel, and ritual have always shaped my way of observing the world. Under the name Julyo, I work primarily as a guitarist, composer, and producer, moving between contemporary blues, instrumental music, and collaborative projects that cross borders and genres. Music remains the central axis of my life, a discipline that has taught me patience, listening, and respect for time—qualities that quietly inform everything else I do.

Cigars, in particular, occupy a reflective space in my life. They are not consumed as status objects or accessories, but as cultural artifacts—rolled histories shaped by geography, labor, fermentation, and patience. A cigar slows the clock. It invites attention, memory, and silence. Paired with a thoughtful spirit, a book, or a quiet moment while traveling, it becomes a small ritual against acceleration, a reminder that craftsmanship and time remain inseparable.

The Cigar Selections grew out of this perspective. It is not a guide to accumulation, but an editorial exploration of taste, tradition, pairing, and context. It sits at the intersection of cigars, music, travel, and writing—fields that share a common grammar of listening and restraint.

My music is available everywhere online, just look for “Julyo”.
